Work method Custom Cult
Custom Cult is a custom tattoo studio. Our designs are personal and original. They are based on your idea or you can choose an existing design or wannado from one of our artists. We prefer to make custom designs, but if you have your own design or drawing we will tattoo it also. As long as it is not a copy of another tattoo artist.
Opening hours
Custom Cult is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 5 pm. On Thursdays we are open from 3 to 8 pm. Our studio managers Robert and Ella will be present to give advise on your tattoo, the artist who will do the work and the procedure of the studio.
Attention: we regularly work on tattoo conventions and the studio will then be closed. If we are away we it will be posted on this website or on Insta and FB (custom.cult.tattoo).
Do you come from far and do you want to make sure whether we are open, send an email to info@custom-cult.com or call us at +31-6-83942985.

The contactform
The contactform on this website is used to prepare ourselves for your tattoo. We ask for your personal details and we try to get a first idea of the tattoo you would like. Please attach examples and a photo of the spot where you would like to have it placed.
After receiving the form Custom Cult will contact you as soon as possible. We discuss the tattoo with you by email of by phone, we give you advise about the most suitable artist and we ask for extra information. The studio managers will discuss with you whether it is necessary to come to the studio for a consultation or whether it can be done by phone or by mail.
The consultation
During the consultation you will discuss your wishes with your artist or with the studio manager. We ask questions: Where do you want you tattoo? What size do you want it to be? Which style do you have in mind? Which images do you want? The conversation will be easier if you bring or send us examples of pictures you like.
After having discussed it all we will give our artistic advise and we will give an estimate of the cost. If you agree, we will book an appointment and ask you for a deposit.
We are dealing with lots of variables so it is not possible to give you a price estimate without an intake.
The deposit
When we book an appointment we ask for a deposit. The amount of the deposit varies and depends among other things on the size of the tattoo. The deposit is 30 % of the estimated total price with a minimum of € 100. With the deposit you pay for time that the artist spends on the design and for blocking time in the dairy of the studio. De deposit is non-refundable, which is also the case if you can't come because of Covid.
The design will remain property of the artist.
When you settle the bill after finishing the tattoo we will deduct the deposit from the total price. If your tattoo takes a couple of days, the deposit will be deducted from the payment on the last day.
We do not have a cash machine (ATM) in the studio. All payments must be done in cash!
Rescheduling your appointment
Appointments with our Dutch artists can be rescheduled free of cost up to 7 days in advance. If you reschedule less than 7 days before the appointment or if you don't show up, the deposit will be cancelled (also in case of illness). In that case a new appointment means that we will charge you again for a deposit.
It is another story if you want to reschedule an appointment with an international artist. A guest artist visits us for a couple of days or weeks. He or she has put time in your design and will have expenses even if you do not show up. It is therefore not possible to reschedule appointments with our guest artists without losing your deposit. If a guest artist unexpectedly needs to cancel the appointment, we will look for a suitable solution.
Lainey Bee has her own procedures. Check her work method on www.laineybee.com.
The design
We do not have magical powers, nor can we read your thoughts. It works best for us if you have a clear idea of what you want. Do you want colour, blackwork of black & grey? Which style do you want? Where do you want the tattoo? Which images do you want and what do they mean to you?
We will examine your skin type, your skin colour, degree of detail, how the lines follow the shape of your body, the contrast, shadow and composition. You can leave this part of the process to us.
The artist gets to work with all the information. The most beautiful designs are created if you can give the artist a free hand. We ask you to have the faith that our artists have great talent and that they will do their very best. Leave the drawing and the tattooing to the artists of Custom Cult. Try not to control every aspect of the tattoo. We will make sure that you have a beautiful tattoo for the rest of your life and that the visit to our studio will be an enjoyable and positive experience!
The design will be ready on the day of your appointment. If you want some small changes that is no problem and adjustments will be made on the spot. If you want a totally new design with items that have not been discussed before, we will charge the hourly rate.
The designs remain the property of the artist. We will not send them to you and you are not allowed to take a photo.
The price
Every customer, every skin and every design is different. During the intake you will receive an estimate of the price. We will charge from the moment that your appointment is booked until your tattoo is finished completely or, in the case of a daily session, until you are done for the day.
In the case you wish to stop early, we will charge you for the minimum hours that we agreed upon, since the artist and the studio have reserved this time for you.
We give you an indication of the amount of time we think is needed, which does not only depend on the design or the placement of the stencil. It also depends on you. The more you move, the longer it takes. If you need many breaks, it will also take longer. Your skintype and the condition of your skin will also affect the speed of the process.
Tattooing
Be on time. The appointment (and the hourly rate) with start running from the moment you are booked.
Upon arrival we will give you the consent form of the GGD that you will need to fill out. Subsequently the studio manager will tell you all about the aftercare of your tattoo. We will give you the written instructions afterwards and you can read about it on our website as well.
Then the tattoo artist will start doing his work. When you approve of the design, he or she will fit in on your body. If the size is okay, the lines will be transferred to your skin with a stencil. Sometimes this needs to be repeated, because it does not always fit well the first time. When you are satisfied the lines need some time to dry and in the meantime the artist will get ready to start. All these steps are part of the time that we charge for the appointment.
When the tattoo is ready we will take photos that we will use for our portfolios and for the promotion of Custom Cult and the artist. In the end the tattoo will be covered in plastic foil.
You can settle the bill at the counter and we carry a selection of good aftercare products, such as showergel and butter.
We do not have a cash machine (ATM) in the studio. All payments must be done in cash!
Your own preparation
Eat well, be rested and relax. The amount of pain is different for everybody. If you have more energy, your body will be able to handle it better. If you want a break, you can always ask for it. During the tattoo session it is not allowed to eat or drink. In the case of a long session you should bring something to eat.
Due to Corona it is not allowed to bring someone to the studio to accompany you. So come alone.
Finally
All artists are independent. They work ‘in’ and not ‘for’ our studio. That implies that we are not responsible for their work. If a tattoo needs a touch up (which does not happen often), you can get in touch with us. If you contact us within 8 weeks after being tattooed, the artist you got tattooed by offers this is for free. If you contact us later, we will charge you for the touch up.
GGD Guidelines
We strictly work according to the hygiene guidelines of the GGD (National Center of Hygiene and Safety). We have a GGD-license and you can find us as Flowinkstudio or Custom Cult on www.veiligtatoeerenenpiercen.nl
Do you want more information about how we deal with the AVG privacy law? We keep your data, which you fill out on the 'book now' form, so we can contact you about informing you and booking the tattoo. Read more here.
